Two More Canon EOS R Bodies Could Be Launched In 2019

Just last month Canon announced the EOS R. This represents Canon’s more “serious” approach to mirrorless cameras as it seemed like it was designed to compete with Sony’s full-frame offerings. The company has attempted mirrorless cameras in the past but they never really took off.

That being said if the current EOS R model feels a bit lacking, not to worry because a report from Canon Rumors claims that two more models are expected to launch in 2019. According to the report, there will be two models where one model will be below the current model, meaning that it could have slightly lower specs and cheaper, and one will be a “professional” model meaning that it could come with all the trimmings and will be pricier than the EOS R, which based on this sounds like it will be sitting in the middle.

Canon’s approach seems a bit different from that of Nikon who launched two full-frame mirrorless cameras at the same time, although it does seem to be a bit similar to Sony’s approach where they have the A7 and A9 mirrorless cameras aimed at different users with different budgets.

No word on when these cameras will be announced as they will apparently be launched at separate times, but CP+ does seem like a possibility as it will be one of the first major camera events in the year.
