‘Artistic Live Focus’ Might Be A New Galaxy S10 Camera Feature

Trademark applications can often give us an idea of upcoming features. One such filing has been spotted which suggests that “Artistic Live Focus” might be a new Galaxy S10 camera feature. As the name suggests, it may very well be an improved version of the existing Live Focus feature that’s already available on a variety of Samsung devices.

Samsung has filed for a trademark to protect the term Artistic Live Focus in the European Union. The description in the filing mentions that this trademark is intended for “Smartphones … computer software for processing digital images.”

Live Focus itself is a dead giveaway since a feature with this same already exists. It allows users to take photos with a bokeh effect, whereby the background is blurred and the foreground is nice and crisp. It’s unclear what the Artistic part of this new feature might be. Whether it’s going to provide more manual options for advanced control of the result or more customization options, it’s not really clear at this point in time.

The Galaxy S10 is going to be unveiled early next year. Reports suggest that the new flagship will be released in March. At least one of the three Galaxy S10 models is expected to feature a quad camera system and possibly a dual front camera as well.
