Google Maps Will Now Surface Lime Scooters And Bikes For Transit

Electric bikes and scooters are increasingly being adopted as cheaper means of urban transportation in cities across the United States. They can help you get someplace where it would take you 15 minutes to walk in half the time. You may have to wait for much longer to catch the next bus or get a ride-share, so to plug that last mile, Google Maps will show scooters and bikes from Lime as a transit option in supported cities.

Google has teamed up with Lime so that Maps can show nearby scooters, pedal bikes, and e-bikes as a transportation option within the app in 13 cities across the globe. Users just navigate to their destination and tap on the transit icon to see Lime options nearby.

If a Lime bike or scooter is available, the app will show them how long it will take to walk to that vehicle, how much the ride could cost, and what would their total journey time and ETA would be.

Tapping on the Lime card would open the app where the exact location of the vehicle would be marked and from where it can be unlocked. Those who don’t have the app installed will be taken to the App Store on iOS and Play Store on Android first.

Lime scooters and bikes will be visible in Google Maps in Auckland, Austin, Baltimore, Brisbane (AU), Dallas, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, San Diego, Oakland, San Antonio, San Jose, Scottsdale, and Seattle initially. More cities will be added down the road.
