‘Major’ Canon Announcement Rumored For February

Last year when Canon announced their EOS R camera, it represented a major change in the company’s strategy for mirrorless cameras. However yet it still seemed to lack a certain something that Nikon had when they announced their Nikon Z series. However there is a chance that could change next month.

A report from Canon Watch has revealed that Canon apparently has plans for an announcement that will be taking place mid-February. This has been teased to be a “major” announcement, although exactly what it will be about remains to be seen, but hopefully it’ll be a new camera announcement.

There have been reports that claim that Canon could announce two new EOS R bodies this year, where one could be a entry-level model (the current model is said to be the mid-ranger), and one high-end model aimed at professionals that could sport a massive 100MP sensor which could be known as the EOS RP (with the P supposedly being an indicator for professional).

Of course it is entirely possible that Canon could be making some DLSR-related announcement instead of a mirrorless, so we’ll just have to wait and see, so it’s probably best to take this with a grain of salt for now.
