AMD Radeon 5700 GPU Prices Cut Ahead Of Release

AMD announced its Navi-based next-generation Radeon RX 5700 and 5700 XT graphics cards just last month. Many were quick to note that the prices didn’t really make them the no-brainer challenger to NVIDIA’s GPUs. However, merely days before their release on July 7th, AMD has decided to cut the prices of its brand new GPUs.

The company had previously listed the Radeon 5700 XT at $450 but it will now be sold for $400. The Radeon 5700 that was previously $380 is now going to cost $350. Customers who opt for the RX 5700 XT 50th Anniversary Edition will get it for $450 instead of the previously announced $500.

It’s unclear what this price cut means for customers who have already pre-ordered these cards. NVIDIA has responded to AMD’s latest release with the “Super” versions of its GeForce RTX graphics cards. They offer slightly more performance than their predecessors so it remains to be seen just how much good this price cut does for AMD’s latest challengers.

There’s also the possibility that NVIDIA might cut the prices on the non-Super versions of these cards since it’s not asking any additional money for the new Super versions in the first place. That would further complicate matters for AMD. It won’t make sense to buy the regular NVIDIA RTX 2070 for $500 when customers can get the Super version of the same price.
