Huawei Mate X Could Be Launched With A Smaller Battery

It has been a few months since Huawei showed off the Mate X, its first foldable smartphone. With Samsung delaying the launch of the Galaxy Fold, Huawei also decided to delay the release until September to ensure that its product didn’t run into any problems at launch. With September only a few weeks away, new information has surfaced about this hotly anticipated device.

The Huawei Mate X features an 8 inch OLED foldable display with a 2480×2200 pixel resolution. It can folded and transformed into a 6.6 inch 19.5:9 aspect ratio display. The final version of the device is likely going to be 8g lighter than the one shown off previously at 287g.

Huawei Mate X was originally supposed to be launched in June. Huawei later decided to delay the launch until September. While it was linked to the Galaxy Fold’s troubles, Huawei also had its hands full with the U.S. ban and may have wanted to avoid launching its marquee product for the year in the middle of it all.

It’s now believed that the final version of the Mate X will have a slightly smaller battery, down 100mAh to 4,400mAh. The device was expected to have 512GB of storage with 8GB of RAM. Huawei may also offer 6/128GB, 8/256GB, and 12/512GB variants at launch. Huawei is yet to provide a concrete release date for the Mate X.
