Google Introduces Live Word Count To Google Docs

Google Docs is a great and free alternative to paid applications like Microsoft Word. Plus the fact that it is cloud-based means that you’ll always have a backup and you’ll always be able to access it anytime and anywhere you want. Sure, there might be some features not available compared, but it’s free and it gets the job done.

In fact, the good news for Google Doc owners is that it looks like Google will be introducing a new feature to the service in the form of a live word count. Previously, if you wanted to see how many words or characters your document had, you’d have to pull up the word count feature manually.

However, with this new feature, you won’t have to and you can see the live word counter in the bottom corner of your document that will constantly keep updating itself as your document progresses. According to Google, “We’ve heard that displaying this information is helpful to users working on docs that require minimum or maximum word count.”

Google has started to roll out the feature to users but if don’t see it yet, not to worry as it should eventually get around to you. The company notes that it should reach all Google Doc users in October.
