Check Out This iPhone 12 Battery Test

Apple’s iPhone event was very comprehensive and the company covered a variety of topics such as improvements to hardware, software, cameras, and even the environmental impact that the company has with the efforts they’re making to their choices of components, packaging material, and so on.

However, one thing conspicuously missing from the announcement was battery life of the new iPhones. Various teardowns and filings have revealed smaller batteries in the new iPhones, and the question is, is it really that bad? In a video uploaded to YouTube by Mrwhosetheboss, he has put Apple’s new iPhone 12 through its paces and compared it against older iPhones up to the iPhone XR.

So how does the newer models fare against its predecessors? It seems like a bit of a mixed bag. Tl;dr, it looks like the iPhone 12 Pro fares worse than the cheaper iPhone 12 where it appears to shut down at around 6 hours and 35 minutes, while the iPhone 12 lasted a little longer at 6 hours and 41 minutes.

According to Mrwhosetheboss, the iPhone 12s were not on 5G and we can’t imagine that with 5G how much worse battery life could be. To help make the testing as fair as possible, Mrwhosetheboss ensured that all iPhone display brightness was at the same level, and that they all had battery health of 100%. While there are other factors that can contribute to overall battery life, suffice to say that the iPhone 12s have batteries worse than the previous year’s models.
