Google Brings Full Coverage For News In Search

When you search for a topic on Google, depending on what it is, sometimes it might surface results for news articles. However, it seems that Google is looking to improve on that by bringing a feature from Google News to its search results in the form of “Full Coverage”.

For those unfamiliar, Full Coverage is a feature that Google debuted back in Google News in 2018. Basically Google will attempt to pull all the sources it can find about a particular topic so that users will be able to quite literally get the full coverage on it, and not just from one or two sources.

Google has since brought that feature to its search results and according to the company, “When you’re searching for information on a timely topic, you see a carousel of articles at the top of your Search results highlighting relevant news. Now for big, developing news stories, you can tap into a Full Coverage page after scrolling to the end of the top stories carousel or by selecting ‘More news on…’ right below the carousel.”

At the moment the feature is only available on mobile in English and is limited to the US, but Google notes that they do plan to eventually roll it out to more countries and cover more languages in the coming months.
