Samsung’s S Pen Spotted At The FCC With Galaxy Z Fold 3 Compatibility

Facebook is great on the Z Fold 2

With the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S21 earlier this year, Samsung did the unthinkable, which was that they decided to stop making the S Pen an exclusive feature of its Note series. Now it looks like the S Pen’s compatibility is being expanded to more Samsung smartphones, like the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3.

This is according to an FCC sighting in which compatibility with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 was explicitly mentioned. What’s interesting about this is that there is no mention of the Galaxy Z Flip 3, which means that Samsung’s other foldable handset will not be able to take advantage of the stylus’ features.

We suppose in a way it makes sense given that the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is a smaller handset compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 3, which when unfolded essentially turns itself into a tablet. Also, given that there will be no new Note handset later this year, we suppose it shouldn’t be too surprising that Samsung could use the Galaxy Z Fold 3 to maybe promote new S Pen features and capabilities.

At the moment, Samsung hasn’t mentioned when the phone will be launched, but last we heard, it was slated for an August announcement, but we’ll have to wait and see.
