Instagram Appears To Be Getting Ready To Launch Creator Subscriptions

Right now, the only way for Instagram users to make money through the platform is by seeking out sponsors themselves. This means that those who aren’t actively seeking sponsors won’t be getting paid as much, if at all. This is versus other platforms like YouTube where creators can put ads and make money from it.

However, it seems that Instagram is getting ready to launch a new feature for creators in the form of subscriptions. The company had already stated earlier this year that they would be exploring the idea of creator-based subscriptions, and now both Sensor Tower and Apptopia are reporting that the company appears to be getting ready to launch the feature.

According to their findings, it seems that Instagram could be starting subscriptions anywhere between $0.99 to $4.99 a month, and at the same time, they also appear to be creating Instagram badges where users can buy these badges as support for livestreamers, similar to how Twitch users can tip their favorite streamers.

There is currently no word on when this new feature will be launching, but it could be something for creators to look forward to if they’re hoping for one more platform that they can monetize. Plus, presumably Instagram will be getting a cut from these purchases and subscriptions, so it’s another way for the platform to generate more revenue.
