Apple TV_Remote_MainMenu-Movies-PRINTApple has longed for its Apple TV to be more than what it is right now. We have heard rumors about how Apple planned to make it so that users could stream all kinds of content, even those on TV. Unfortunately those plans did not materialize, but it sounds like we could be getting some kind of variant.

According to a report from the New York Times, they claim that both Twitter and Apple are working together to launch an app on the Apple TV that will allow users to stream NFL games. This follows a report in which it was revealed that Twitter won the rights to stream NFL games on Thursday nights.

Anthony Noto, the chief financial officer for Twitter said, “Having that live programming every night when sports are playing — with no paywall, no logging in and directly from the source — that’s key to us.” It would seem that Twitter also managed to beat out its rivals such as Facebook who apparently set rather strict terms that made their bid less appealing than Twitter’s.

Unsurprisingly Apple and Twitter declined to comment about the rumored app, but we guess we’ll just have to wait and see. In the meantime would the ability to stream content like the NFL make you more interested in getting your hands on the Apple TV?
