Apple has always been a bit shy when it comes to announcing how many Apple Watches that they’ve sold. If you were hoping that this will be changing anytime soon, you might want to rethink that because in Apple’s latest financials (via 9to5Mac), the company has not provided any details about how many units that they’ve sold.

However they did announce that the revenue that they’ve managed to make from wearables like the Apple Watch has seen a 60% growth year-over-year, which when you add up the last four quarters results in revenue that has exceeded $10 billion. This is according to Luca Maestri, Apple’s CFO who confirmed the figures when he spoke to the Financial Times (paywall).

According to Maestri who seemed to be particularly proud of this accomplishment, “This is a product category that essentially didn’t exist three years ago.” Given that the Apple Watch was originally launched 3 years ago, for Apple to make $10 billion just from the wearable alone is indeed quite an accomplishment and something to be proud about.

It is unclear why Apple is still holding back on disclosing how many units they’ve actually sold, but recent figures from third-party research firms have shown that Apple shipped 3.5 million units in Q2 2018, and that an estimated 46 million units have been sold to date.
