Sprint U1901 WiMAX USB modem
When you realize that the Sprint U1901 is a WiMAX USB modem, chances are you will ask yourself – does it work outside of a WiMAX blanket? The sad answer is no, which is more or less unthinkable these days. This means whenever you roam outside of a WiMAX area, you will lose connectivity, which doesn’t seem as though it is 2010 technology. After all, they should at least throw in a backup plan that can hook up to the Internet via 3G, EDGE or GPRS if there is no WiMAX coverage. This would severely limit the sales figures of the U1901 WiMAX USB modem, despite its $50 price tag that is accompanied by a 2-year contract. Theoretically, the Sprint U1901 is supposed to deliver 10Mbps, but real world usage figures will probably reside somewhere between 3Mbps and 6Mbps.
