AMIMON Unveils WHDI USB Stick For Easy PC To TV Wireless Streaming

We’ve already checked out WHDI-enabled laptop-to-TV streaming solutions before this such as the Asus WiCast and HP Wireless TV, though the major downside of those solutions is that they require a rather clunky box to be attached to the laptop. Now AMIMON, the company behind the WHDI technology, has come up with a WHDI stick, which should go a long way to shrinking the physical footprint of such devices. The device pictured is probably a prototype, but the device should be good enough to allow manufacturers to offer smaller solutions in the future. Despite its reduced size, it’s still capable of streaming uncompressed 1080p/60Hz HD video from a laptop to an HDTV with minimal latency. Products based on this prototype aren’t expected to hit the market until the end of Q1 2011, so we’ll have to be a little patient on this.
