Samsung SH-222AB DVD Writer loads ultra fast

Samsung SH-222ABWhile Blu-ray is the new standard for physical disc media right now, it has yet to see widespread adoption mainly due to the cut-throat prices for the discs and writers at the moment. However, DVD, a format that was once in the same position of Blu-ray has become what CDs once were – cheap, affordable and a convenient method of storage and file transfer.

Samsung’s new DVD writer, the SH-222AB is a testament of this fact. Costing a bit more than the price of a DVD movie, their new DVD Writer is touted to load much faster than other DVD drives. The Lead-In-Time has been reduced by about 60%, which means those days of waiting 15-30 seconds for a disc to load after inserting it are almost over. Granted, it wasn’t a long time to wait in the first place, but this reduction in lag time makes inserting DVDs feel like you’re plugging in a USB device.

Other features of the SH-222AB include: low power consumption and an aerodynamic frame design for low acoustic noise (burn DVDs in the middle of the night without waking up your roommate!), and is manufactured with lead-free soldering technology in accordance with the RoHS (restriction of hazardous substances directive). This internal DVD Writer uses a SATA interface for easy installation to your computer, and has 48X CD-ROM reading, 40X CD-RW reading, 22X DVD±R recording, 12X DVD-RAM recording, 16X DVD+R Dual Layer recording, 8X DVD+RW recording and 6X DVD-RW recording. The SH-222AB is available now, with an MSRP of $29.00.
