Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 runs Honeycomb

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10Remember back in the days when Sony Ericsson mentioned that due to hardware limitations, the Xperia X10 won’t be upgraded past Android 2.1? Well ever since they announced that the phone will be getting Gingerbread, people have realized that hardware limitations were all a sham. The folks over at XDA-developers managed to port Android 3.0, Honeycomb, onto the smartphone without much hassle.

Even though it is Honeycomb that was obtained from the SDK, (Google has yet to publicly release the source code for Honeycomb), they managed to get it up and running on the X10. As usual with all first builds, the phone is barely functional with the ROM but give those developers a few weeks and some magic is bound to happen.

What works:

No download is available for you guys to test it at the moment but you can expect it to arrive soon. Folks with itchy hands are no doubt going to have a ball of a time playing around with Android 3.0 on their phones. Head over to the official thread on XDA-developers for more details.
