NVIDIA 3D Vision wired glasses

NVIDIA 3D Vision Wired[Computex] NVIDIA has just announced the launch of its NVIDIA 3D Vision wired glasses, a more cost-effective version of the 3D Vision active shutter glasses. With a maximum suggested retail price of $99 (MSRP), the wired glasses are indeed cheaper than their infra-red wireless counterpart (no battery, overall simpler). In return, you get a hanging wire on the left side. I tried it, and it’s OK if you don’t move your head too much. The (thin) included USB 2.0 cable is 10-foot long, so that should work for most desktop configurations, and might even be long enough for some living rooms. The industry as a whole has been aiming for lower-cost 3D solutions as  3D glasses are still fairly expensive. Most companies are sticking with active shutter glasses like these, while LG is pushing really hard for a passive solution that is much lighter and cheaper. We will see if the slightly lower price provides a boost. Today, it’s possible to find the NVIDIA wireless 3D Vision for less than $100 on the web. The “street” price of the wired ones is still unknown at this point, but they should be available in “late June”, says NVIDIA.
