We’ve always heard about rumors of the phone arriving on all the big networks in the country, but never had any solid proof to back those stories up. While these stories from anonymous sources aren’t any better than previous rumors, the 9to5Mac folks seem pretty convinced about it. Apparently Apple is also said to have ordered Sprint-compatible cell towers for use on their campuses for testing late last year – Apple was reported to have done the same thing with Verizon before they released the Verizon iPhone.
The iPhone – if released on Sprint this year won’t be packing 4G compatible radios according to the sources, but if it is released next year, the chances of it having 4G are much higher. Anyway, like all unverified claims, take it with a pinch of salt. If the iPhone does arrive on Sprint this year, we’ll know soon enough.
