Developers can now integrate Hotmail across Android and iOS platforms

If you’re still hanging on to your Hotmail accounts from back in the day, or perhaps you’re a Microsoft Live user, then you will be pleased to know that Microsoft is providing app developers the tools that will make integration with your smartphone possible.

When it comes to integration of services and features, platform developers tend to keep them in-house, for example Gmail for Android, and possibly Google+ as well in the future. One could make the argument that integration of certain widely used features and services might be able to reach out to a wider audience, which is probably the route that Microsoft decided to go when they released their developer platform.

What this does is that it will now allow app developers across iOS, Android and Windows Phone 7 platforms to integrate the ability for users to access certain information such as photos and contacts from Hotmail, Messenger and SkyDive right from their devices.

Naturally the integration was more or less expected when it came to Windows Phone 7, but to now provide integration for Android and iOS, seems like Microsoft is trying to reach out to a wider audience. Any Hotmail users out there who might be thrilled by this news?
