Sony ESSP-2000 battery said to last a decade

If you’re ever living under the threat of being attacked by a nuclear power, surely you would be well honed in your emergency drills – taking cover in some sort of underground bunker and hoping that the Fallout-style lifestyle will be something you can get used to, starting afresh from nothing. Well, it goes without saying that living around a bonfire isn’t much fun especially when you’ve gotten used to using electricity at the flip of a switch. Sony might not be the name you would think of to deliver a lithium-ion storage battery or UPS, but here they are with this business grade offering – the Sony ESSP-2000.

Specially designed for small data centers or a server farm, the ESSP-2000 is said to deliver at least ten years of optimal performances – all the while stashing up to 2.4kWh of juice and can be charged up to 95% in a couple of hours. Definitely not home grade UPS, but hey, if you can afford the 2 million yen price tag on this 90kg behemoth, why not, huh?
