Wedding attendance made possible via iPad

How many ways can you think of using an iPad creatively? Apart from conjuring an iPad Head Girl, how about using the iPad as a gateway of sorts so that a bridesmaid is able to be in attendance as well? That is what happened at the wedding of Jonathan Alberico and Jamie Wilborn, where one of the bridesmaids made it virtually over the iPad.

The bubbly bride Jaime said, “Renee called dibs to be my bridesmaid many many moons ago and unfortunately she couldn’t physically make it out here but thank you, technology. Here is Renee. She got to see the whole ceremony, she got to meet everyone and be here for the reception.”

Surely this is just a natural evolution in using webcams to celebrate a particular event, and with the iPad being super portable (not to mention boasting 3G connectivity), it makes sense as well. At least toting around an iPad beats carrying a heavy tablet, don’t you think so?
