Google prepares developers for Ice Cream Sandwich, launch imminent?

Android app

While we still have no official word on when Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is going to launch, it looks like it might be arriving in the near future. Google has already started preparing its developers with details about how they should handle their app sizes in Ice Cream Sandwich. Because Ice Cream Sandwich is designed to unite the smartphone and tablet experience for Android, developers will have to use code in their apps so that developers can just compile their apps into one APK (Android Package) which can support multiple resolutions instead of coding separate apps for tablets and smartphones.

Google also asks developers to think about how their tablet apps are going to work on smaller displays before the Ice Cream Sandwich SDK (Software Developer Kit) is even released. If you’re a developer or just an Android user who’s keen on finding out more about what’s to come, head over to the Android Developers blog for more details. Let’s hope this means we’ll be seeing Ice Cream Sandwich arriving soon.
