China Unicom still waits on iPhone 4S

You know, you might actually want to look for another phone other than the iPhone 4S if you happen to live in China – simply because it is rather difficult for Apple’s best iPhone yet to obtain the relevant approvals from the authorities in that part of the world. Just recently, the iPhone 4 (not iPhone 4S, mind you) had picked up its network permit from MIIT, and that only for the iPhone 4 8GB, and China Unicom just confirmed that the iPhone 4S is still sitting on its pretty rear end, waiting for an approval.

Realistically speaking, the iPhone 4S would no longer be able to make it to China before the calendar year greets 2012, even if the vaunted smartphone were to pick up approval today. Chances are, Apple and China Unicom will still need to spend some time and money to run pre-launch promotions, although I am not quite sure whether that is really necessary at all since it is the iPhone 4S that we are talking about here, after all.
