Microsoft’s job posting revealed that the company is looking for a software engineer to join the Windows Phone Backup, Migrate and Restore team. According to the job listing, the team is looking to build features into Windows Phone that will ensure users can “quickly and seamlessly get their phone back to a good state,” regardless if the phone has been dropped into a pool of water, lost or damaged beyond repair.
Unfortunately it was no explicitly stated as to what Microsoft’s plans are for this backup process. Could they be following in Apple’s footsteps by synching the user’s data (contacts, notes, apps, photos, videos, music, etc) in the cloud which can be easily accessed on a new phone, or will they be coming up with something entirely new of their own? Either way we’re guessing that Windows Phone owners out there will be pleased to hear that a proper backup solution for their devices is currently being looked into. [Job listing]
