PlayStation Network to become Sony Entertainment Network

Sony PlayStation NetworkIn an effort to place all its networks under the same name, it looks like we’ll be saying goodbye to Sony’s PlayStation Network. It has been announced that the PlayStation Network will be renamed to the Sony Entertainment Network this week. According to an email sent out to PlayStation Network users, on February 8th, the PSN will undergo a name change. Fortunately, nothing will be required from the users – all the changes will be done by Sony, and users get to keep their current accounts and log in normally.

Other than the cosmetic changes to the service, it looks like everything should function like it did before. However, it has been noted that PSP accounts will still stay on the PlayStation Network – not that it matters much. As usual, beware of phishing emails that will undoubtedly pop up, asking you to verify your personal details – just ignore them.

After years of calling it the PlayStation Network, we’ll have to start getting used to calling it the Sony Entertainment Network (SEN). Anybody going to miss the old name?
