Seagate GoFlex Thunderbolt adapter now available

If you own any of Seagate’s GoFlex drives and you feel that the USB 2.0 interface on your MacBook computer is a bit too slow, you might be interested to hear that the company has recently updated its accessory page with the GoFlex Thunderbolt adapter. Basically what this does is that it will allow Seagate’s mobile GoFlex drives the ability to connect to Mac computers via the 10Gbps Thunderbolt interface.

For those unfamiliar, the Thunderbolt interface was originally designed by Intel and has since made its way onto Apple’s series of Mac and MacBook computers. Unfortunately due to the lack of Thunderbolt accessories at the moment, the ones that are available tend to be a lot more expensive compared to their USB counterparts, which could make this Thunderbolt GoFlex adapter appealing to those with Seagate GoFlex USB mobile hard drives.

According to Seagate, the Thunderbolt adapter will allow transfer speeds that are about 20 times faster than USB 2.0, but only if the drive itself can maximize the bus speed. If you’re interested in picking up the Seagate GoFlex Thunderbolt accessory for yourself, pop on over to Seagate’s accessory page where you will be able to order one for $99.99.
