#CES2019 – LaCie is a brand that many are probably familiar with when it comes to storage. The company is known for their backup systems, but if you’re not looking for a backup system that sits on your desktop, not to worry because at CES 2019, LaCie has announced a couple of new portable hard drives and SSDs.

Starting with the LaCie Mobile Drive, this is an external hard drive that can come with up to 5TB of storage. It is compatible with both USB-C and USB 3.0 and will also play nicely with both Mac and Windows computers. However if regular hard drives aren’t fast enough for your needs, LaCie has also announced the Mobile SSD which is the SSD variant of the Mobile Drive.

However it is only offered in a 2TB version so if you need anything more than that, perhaps it could worth checking out the Mobile Drive instead. Just like the Mobile Drive, the Mobile SSD will feature USB-C and USB 3.0 compatibility, and also support for Mac and Windows. LaCie is claiming transfer speeds of up to 540MB/s.

Also given that these are LaCie devices, design also plays a huge role in the overall product where the new Mobile Drive and SSD devices feature a body made from aluminum and sleek sharp edges. No word on how much either drive will cost, but LaCie’s products aren’t that cheap to begin with so be prepared to pay if you’re looking to get the maxed out versions.
