Quasar is what true multitasking on the iPad should look like

Last week we reported on a proof-of-concept that gave us a clue as to what true multitasking on the iPad could look like. While the tool currently exists, it is not available for the public but the good news is that if you own a jailbroken iPad and you’re willing to fork out $9.99, Quasar by Pedro Franceschi might be an iPad hack worth taking a look at. This hack will basically bring true multitasking features to the iPad and allow users to run multiple apps simultaneously with multiple windows open at once. True multitasking is one of the features that a good many iOS users have been longing for, and one that we hope will be introduced with iOS 6 which is expected to be announced at WWDC in a few months’ time.

While we have yet to try out Quasar for ourselves, it certainly looks like it gets the job done. Users will be able to resize windows, drag them around and have them all run simultaneously. The download is available from the Cydia Store for $9.99 but since it requires a jailbroken iPad, new iPads running on iOS 5.1 need not apply. In the mean time check out the video above for a demonstration of Quasar in action.
