T-Mobile Files Agreement with Leap Wireless and Savary Island for Network Spectrum Exchange
US Carrier T-Mobile who recently released the chart-topping Nokia Lumia 900 has entered into an agreement with Leap Wireless and Savary Island Wireless which is a venture that T-mobile owns shares in but does not control to exchange wireless network spectrum in a few markets. The application for the spectrum exchanges was filed with the FCC last week on Wednesday, the 4th of April. T-Mobile’s strategy with the request is to enhance the 4G LTE user experience for more markets across the country.
If the FCC does approve the application, T-Mobile will receive spectrum from Leap in Alabama, Illinois, Missouri and Minnesota while Leap will receive spectrum from the former in Phoenix, AZ and Houston, Galveston and Bryan-College Station in Texas. Moreover, as per the request that was filed, the companies will exchange spectrum in Philadelphia, Wilmington in Delaware, Atlantic City, New Jersey as well as a few markets scattered around Texas as well as New Mexico.
