T-Mobile to lure iPhone owners onto their network with cheaper family plans

At the moment, T-Mobile is the only major carrier in the US not to offer customers the iPhone, but it looks like they’re doing everything in their power to attract as many AT&T iPhone customers over with their cheaper family plans. According to the stats, T-Mobile already has over 1 million unofficially unlocked iPhones running on their network, and with the introduction of the carrier’s new family plan, it looks like the carrier might not have trouble attracting AT&T subscribers over onto their network. In a statement the carrier gave to 9to5 Mac:

T-Mobile’s Value plans enable customers who bring their own smartphone, such as the iPhone, to save money. For example, T-Mobile’s Value family plan with unlimited talk, unlimited text and unlimited data with 2 GB of high-speed data is just $49.99 per line for two lines.

Basically all customers would need is an unlocked iPhone, T-Mobile’s micro-SIM card and they’re good to go. Granted that T-Mobile’s 3G/4G HSPA/HSPA+ AWS bands aren’t compatible with the iPhone for now, the carrier has announced earlier this year that they will be moving 3G/4G services over onto compatible bands.Based on scattered reports that T-Mobile iPhone users have picked up 3G coverage in some areas, it looks like the wait might not be that long after all.
