Kinect and PlayStation Eye turns coffee table into a 3D augmented reality display

We’ve all seen the television shows and movies where they use tables that have touchscreen functionality. Such technology does exist in the form of the Microsoft Surface and while that’s admittedly pretty cool, Bastian Broecker has managed to come up with something different. The concept is similar but what Broecker did was that he took the Microsoft Kinect sensor, infrared laser, a PlayStation Eye along with head tracking software to create a 3D augmented reality coffee table. The sensors will be used to track the user’s hands and fingers, while the also tracking the user’s head and will move the 3D environment accordingly. It’s pretty cool and feels Tron-like, so be sure to check out the video above for a demonstration.
