Google hit with alleged patent infringement lawsuit over Google Drive and Google Docs

Patents are a great way to protect ideas and inventions but it can also be used as a weapon to sue other companies over alleged patent infringements. If you have been following the tech scene then lawsuits between the giant corporations (i.e. Samsung, Apple, Microsoft, Motorola, etc) are probably a familiar one, as well as lawsuits by patent trolls hoping to exact some form of licensing fee from other companies. In any case it looks like Google is facing a new lawsuit from Superspeed LLC over Google Drive and Google Docs.

The latter is claiming that Google had violated a software patent given to the company back in 1999 that allowed multiple computers to quickly access a common disk at the same time. Unsurprisingly the company is seeking a permanent injunction against Google as well as seeking a trial by jury and expects to be paid a reasonable royalty. No word on how Google will be responding to this latest lawsuit, but for those interested in reading the complaint, check it out below.
