Remember a while back we reported on a concept called the Instagram Socialmatic camera? Well as it turns out, the folks who came up with the concept have announced that they have plans to turn it into a reality. They have dropped the Instagram moniker and are now simply calling it the Socialmatic. It will retain some of its concept features, such as its instant-print feature which is similar to that of a Polaroid camera.

It will even come with WiFi or 3G connectivity that allows users to instantly upload it onto social networks, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or send it as an email or MMS. Other proposed features includes a 4.3” touchscreen display, optical zoom, LED flash and will be running on Android, although it was not mentioned as to which version. ADR Studios has also revealed that it will be available in either 16GB or 32GB capacities in either WiFi or WiFi + 3G mode.

No specific release date has been mentioned, but they plan to release it in mid-2013, so we’ll keep our eyes peeled. With Android-powered cameras starting to pop up, anyone else plan on picking up the Socialmatic when it is released?
