Yahoo acquires Stamped

Marissa Mayer’s tenure as Yahoo CEO has seen her pick up the one-year-old mobile recommendations app Stamped, as part of her future legacy since arriving on board the Internet company in July this year. The whole idea behind Stamped’s acquisition was for their talented 9 person team, where five of them did work at Google previously, and these 9 folks will be absorbed into a new mobile product team that is set to be established in New York under the leadership of Stamped’s trio of co-founders. It is interesting to note that Stamped’s iPhone and web app will no longer be made available to the masses by the time 2013 rolls around.

Mayer did have her fair share of connections with Stamped, as she worked closely with Stamped co-founder Robby Stein when they were still at Google. Stamped was originally launched as an iPhone app in November, where one was able to keep track of and share the things that one liked with their friends, ranging from the mundane such as restaurants to books, films and other apps. Well, are you excited to see what Yahoo has in store after recruiting such talent on board?
