For the longest time ever, if you wanted an answer to a question you had on the internet, Yahoo Answers was more or less the default platform. It would constantly surface in search results, especially for questions that might not always have a dedicated website or community to draw from.

However, all good things must come to an end because according to a message pinned at the top of the Yahoo Answers website, they have announced that the service will be shutting down on the 4th of May, 2021. According to the message, “Yahoo Answers is shutting down on May 4th, 2021 (Eastern Time) and beginning April 20th, 2021 (Eastern Time) the Yahoo Answers website will be in read-only mode. There will be no changes to other Yahoo properties or services, or your Yahoo account.”

In a message that was sent to active Yahoo Answers members, “While Yahoo Answers war [sic] once a key part of Yahoo’s products and services, it has become less popular over the years as the needs of our members have changed. To that end, we have decided to shift our resources away from Yahoo Answers to focus on products that better serve our members and deliver on Yahoo’s promise of providing premium trusted content.”

For those who have posted questions or answered questions on the platform, you will have until the 30th of June to request your data from Yahoo, and after that you will no longer be able to access it.
