LG Says Nexus 4 Demand Is Just Too Huge

The Nexus 4 is an absolute best-seller. There’s no doubt about that. One, it’s cheap, yet its hardware is just about right. And second, it’s running Android Jelly Bean. So, when the Nexus 4 sold out on several occasions on Google Play, people have been pointing fingers as to who is to blame. Is it Google or LG? Before we figure out the chicken versus egg question, LG has something to say regarding the supply and demand of the Nexus 4. Speaking to CNET, Andy Coughlin, the head of mobile at LG UK, says that the Nexus 4 “had proven extremely popular, and as such retailers have been met with huge demand.”

Coughlin adds, “We are working closely with Google to ensure that those who wish to purchase a handset are able to do so.” It’s also possible that Google underestimated the demand, although one could wonder whether everything is just a conspiracy to keep the device trending in the news. “As with any sales process, LG supplies product quantities against partners’/customers’ (ie retailers, operators etc) forecasts. Demand via the Play Store has been very high in this instance,” he added.
