Sony Shares Jelly Bean Update Plans

Sony has just shared some details on the future updates of the Android Jelly Bean operating system for their collection of smartphones, and the roll out will begin from February 2013 onward – perhaps there will be some sort of big announcement made at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, next year? One thing is for sure though, as budget models will not be on the receiving end of such an update.

Basically, we do know that Sony Mobile’s plans include an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean roll out for its 2012 Xperia line-up, commencing from February 2013 onward with the new Xperia T spearheading the line, including the Xperia TX and Xperia V as well. It should not be beyond March 2013 that the updates will be made available for the above mentioned smartphones. As for the next batch of phones, those would be the Sony Xperia P, Xperia go and Xperia J that will receive its update from the end of March next year, while folks who own the Xperia S, Xperia SL, Xperia ion and Xperia acro S can look forward to their respective updates from April onwards.

Bummer for those who own those lower-end Xperia handsets that will miss out on the Jelly Bean, where among them are the Xperia U, Xperia sola, Xperia miro and Xperia tipo.
