LG Optimus G Receives Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Update In South Korea

While the LG Optimus G might be the first Android smartphone to offer a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, the “downside” was that it came with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich versus Android 4.1 Jelly Bean which we think could have made the experience even better, partly in thanks to Project Butter. In any case if you own an LG Optimus G, you might be interested to learn that it seems that in South Korea, LG has begun to roll out the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for owners of the handset. LG did initially promise that the update would roll out before the end of 2012, but considering that we’re only two weeks into 2013, we guess that the delay wasn’t too bad. There’s no word on when the US will be getting their Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, especially since Optimus G handsets locked to carriers will probably have to wait for carrier approval, but hopefully it won’t take too long now that it has already begun its rollout in its home country of South Korea.
