Samsung Galaxy S2 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update Rolling Out Today

Samsung announced last week it would be rolling out an update to its Galaxy S2 some time next month, but it looks like things went better than they expected as the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update is being rolled out today.

Today’s update will bring many features already found in the Galaxy Note II and Galaxy S3 such as better notifications, a customizable home screen, improved Google Search, Google Now, TouchWiz Nature UX and improvements to the device’s performance and stability thanks to Project Butter.

As of now, the update is being pushed out in phases and isn’t available on every carrier, but if you’d like to update your Galaxy S2, you can always do so by using Samsung’s Kies. If you would prefer update your Galaxy S2 over the air, then you’ll have to wait a bit until your carrier of choice offers it through its network.

Considering how Samsung has moved on from the Galaxy S2 with its Galaxy S3 and is now planning to unveil the Galaxy S4, we can’t help but be impressed with this decision to support its older smartphone. Although, if you still have a Galaxy S2, we’re sure you’re keeping a close eye on the Galaxy S4 this year.
