EA Sports’ Madden series has been one football gamers have flocked to year after year, even though some years don’t offer much of an improvement over the typical yearly roster update. As much as gamers enjoy their shooters like Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 or Halo 4, we know there’s a legion of Madden fans out there that play the latest version of the game as hardcore as shooter fans.

Time flies when you’re having fun, which certainly holds true for the Madden series as this year it’s celebrating its 25th year anniversary of offering bone crunching tackles, amazing Hail Mary passes and days of tormenting your friends for how much they completely stink at Madden compared to you. This yea, EA Sports is announcing it’s calling this year’s Madden game, which should be called Madden 2014, to Madden 25.

“There’s no better way to celebrate and mark the culmination of 25 years of innovation than by naming this year’s game Madden NFL 25,” said Cam Weber, GM of American Football for EA Sports. “This year’s game will push the boundaries with gameplay and feature innovations that will lay a very strong foundation for the next 25 years of this storied franchise.”

Along with the teaser image released by EA, an August 27, 2013 date is also teased, which leads us to believe that’s when the title will be released. With that said, you have a little over six months to hone your Madden skills in time for Madden 25.
