Blackberry CEO Predicts “Tens of Million” Q10 Units Will Be Sold

blackberry-q10-preview-11We reported yesterday that the Blackberry Q10 had managed to sell out in just 90 minutes over at Selfridges, which we have to say is unsurprising considering that the Q10 retains a familiar design with its physical QWERTY keyboard and the fact that it reminds us somewhat of the Blackberry Bold 9900, except with better hardware and a shiny new operating system under the hood. We also stated that the sellout of the Q10 could also be good news for Blackberry, and it seems that Blackberry’s CEO, Thorsten Heins, thinks so as well, going on to state that he believes the Q10 will go on to sell “tens of million units”.

This was revealed during an interview that Heins did with Bloomberg, with Heins being quoted as saying, ”We have very, very good first signs already after the launch in the UK. This is going into the installed base of more than 70 million BlackBerry users so we have quite some expectations. We expect several tens of million of units.” What do you guys think? Is Heins’ optimism warranted, or do you think that ultimately users might prefer a full touchscreen smartphone?
