Apple Offering iPhone 5 Screen Replacement In-Store For $149

A few weeks ago, a report was published which took a look at the rising cost of repairing an iPhone, specifically the shattered screen on an iPhone 5. The report found fixing an iPhone 5 was more expensive than previous models due to a combination of the components already being expensive as well as a low supply of said components. It looks as though Apple is improving their repair program by now offering to replace broken iPhone 5 displays in-store for only $149, where it previously cost $229.

Previously, Apple would have to send the broken iPhone 5 off to be repaired, but with its improved repair program, Apple Stores will be able to perform the fix on-site, which is probably why the cost of the fix has been discounted. In July, Apple will reportedly offer in-store repairs for camera, sleep / wake button and logic board issues in addition to their current ability to fix home button, receiver and battery replacement. This would mean a good majority of problems iPhone 5 users have with their devices will be fixable with a quick visit to their local Apple Store, which we’re sure many of you would appreciate over having to be given a new device while your current one is sent out for repairs.
