Google was rumored to unveil a new Nexus smartphone at I/O 2013, however the company did not even say anything about a new device. Instead they announced the “Google Edition” Samsung Galaxy S4, which is essentially similar to the conventional Galaxy S4, the major difference being that it runs on stock Android. The device itself has not been released, but it is believed that Samsung might have already posted its kernel source code. Files for GT-i9505G were spotted recently on Samsung’s open source website.

However there’s no confirmation that this is in fact the kernel source code for Google Edition Galaxy S4, the “G” at the model number’s end is not a confirmation, Samsung has released devices in the past with G at the end of their model numbers. This particular model number has received a new Wi-Fi Alliance certification and it has also appeared in the Bluetooth registry. The source code for GT-i9505G can be downloaded right now, we’ll know the precise model number once the device is actually released. It is going to be exclusive to the U.S. and is likely to be released on June 26th.
