Flipboard was initially released on the iPad some three years ago. It a personal magazine app which allows users to pull in feeds from their favorite websites and social networks and then presents them in a magazine style, users flip through the pages like they would on an actual magazine. Since then Flipboard has been released for iPhone as well as Android. They’ve also started working on a Windows Phone app. The focus was on mobile devices from the get go, but now Flipboard has finally brought the experience to desktops by making user created magazines accessible through Flipboard.com.

Flipboard on desktop is similar in function to its mobile apps. The pages can be flipped, the cover photos are gorgeous and users have the ability to share entire magazines or individual items. Users will also be able to create their own magazines and add articles and photos in them. Arrow keys or the trackpad can be used to flip pages. If the user wants to comment on any particular item, they can click on it to be taken to the website it originated from. Flipboard says that a desktop experience that provides all of the features of the mobile apps will come over the next six months.
