About a month back Video on Instagram was launched. Its popularity has soared, so much as that Vine’s usage has reportedly dropped ever since its true competitor was launched. Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, announced their next major app update today called Instagram 4.1. It brings a couple of new features that users had frequently requested.

Users now have the ability to import video from their smartphone’s media library. The app will allow them to trim the video down and even square-crop it before it is shared on Instagram. This feature would definitely be appreciated, as users now have the ability to share any video on Instagram, regardless of when and where they recorded it. Automatic straightening has been added to the iOS app. When a photo is taken through the app, users just need to tap the Straighten icon and the photo will automatically be leveled. The feature will also work with any photo that’s imported through the smartphone’s media library. Last but not the least, Video on Instagram is now available for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The respective app for iOS and Android can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play.
