Apple Reportedly Ramping Up Gold iPhone 5s Production To Meet Demand

When it was initially rumored that Apple could be creating a gold iPhone 5s, we’re sure many were a bit worried that the final device would turn out rather gaudy and ostentatious, although based on hands-on reviews so far, it seems that it’s actually pretty decent. We had heard how the gold iPhone was designed for markets such as China where gold symbolizes fortune, and unsurprisingly it turns out that Apple was spot on as the gold iPhone was reported to have been a hit with Chinese customers. However it turns out that the gold finish is a bigger hit than Apple might have expected as carriers in the US are reporting that they do not have the gold iPhone 5s in stock due to low supply.

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, they claim that Apple has realized that the gold iPhone is a big hit and has asked their supply chain to increase the production of gold iPhone 5s units by one third. Naturally Apple declined to comment on this rumor. It had been speculated that the reason why the iPhone 5s is facing a shortage at the moment is because of the fingerprint sensor which has had poor yields, which also was the reason why Apple did not open the iPhone 5s to pre-orders like they did with previous phones as they would not have been able to deliver on their promise. In any case what do you guys think? Anyone planning on picking up a gold iPhone 5s?
