Xbox 360 Support Could End In 2016, Says Microsoft

xbox-360-support-endMicrosoft recently announced that their Xbox One video game console is going to launch to the masses this coming November 22nd, which would mark exactly eight years to the day that the existing Xbox 360 was released. Having said that, I am quite sure that many of us would ask ourselves just how much longer will Microsoft as well as game publishers offer support for the Xbox 360. That is a normal question to have in your mind for sure, since this is what we also ask ourselves whenever a new version of Windows is released.

Earlier this week in a presentation at the Citi Global Technology Conference, Xbox chief marketing and strategy officer Yusuf Mehdi mentioned , “If you look at 360 that platform lasted for seven to eight years and it’s going to go for another three years.” If one were to take that literally, it would be a hint that Microsoft might just offer support for the Xbox 360 until 2016, and then the end would come. Could it be that no more new games will roll out for the Xbox 360 beyond 2016? Just in case you are worried about picking up the Xbox 360 now just because of an eventual trickling of upcoming games, Mehdi reassures us that there will be at least a century of new titles in the pipeline.
