iPhone 5s Supplies Are Now Even Shorter [Analyst]

Shortly after Apple announced its iPhone 5s, those who were looking to purchase the company’s latest smartphone, especially its gold version, reportedly had a bit of trouble finding it in stores. According to an analyst, things are about to get even more difficult for those who are interested in the iPhone 5s this holiday season.

Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster reports availability of the iPhone 5s have dropped down to less that 5 percent of all iPhone models over the past three weeks. Following the launch of the iPhone 5s, the new smartphone accounted for 27 percent of all iPhones in stock, but that number quickly fell the more consumers demanded the device. Munster came up with this data based on his tracking of the iPhone 5s supply at 60 different U.S. Apple retail stores three times a week.

Now that we know the iPhone 5s will probably be scarce over the next few weeks, Munster says supply might catch up with demand by early December, seeing as that’s what happened when the iPhone 5 released last year. So if you’re planning on picking up an iPhone 5s later this year as a gift for someone or yourself, you should make sure you have the patience of a saint as it could be tough to get one for a few months.
