Samsung Galaxy S5 Could Feature Plastic Body And Faux Leather Back [Rumor]

Samsung-galaxy-note-3-08Samsung has in the past gotten a bit of flack from the public regarding its choice of material for its smartphones, which have namely been plastic as opposed to using more “premium” materials such as metal or glass which are used by their competitors (HTC One and Sony Xperia Z come to mind). We had heard a rumor suggesting that the upcoming Galaxy S5 could feature a metal body although a new rumor has surfaced, suggesting that Samsung could be sticking to a plastic construction for the Galaxy S5, but will feature a faux leather back similar to that of the Galaxy Note 3. While the source is not the most accurate or reputable, given Samsung’s choice of materials in the past, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Galaxy S5 did indeed stick to the use of plastic as with its predecessors.

Despite the use of plastic, Samsung has enjoyed immense success with their Galaxy S-lineup and we doubt that will change regardless of whatever material Samsung goes with, although admittedly it would be a nice change of pace. Other rumored features of the upcoming Galaxy S5 include an eye sensor, a possible 64-bit Exynos chip, as well as a possible announcement in January 2014, presumably during CES. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think? Does the idea of another plastic Galaxy S device put you off, or do you not care?
